Hardwood floor color chosen

This is the stain color we chose.
They are applying the stain now and will be back in the morning to seal it.

Hardwood Floors both large bedrooms

This is the large bedroom I was worried about.
It is like maybe a waterbed broke or something.

Looks tons better after sanding.

Problem is this area.

I was not worried about the other large bedroom.
Matter of fact the floor guy said this was his favorite room in the whole house to work with.

Hardwood Floors Small bedroom

remember this mess in the small bedroom.
When we walked on it the boards are cupped in spots.

after first sanding, floor guy said still too soon to make judgement.
But he is optimistic.
The cupped effect is practically gone.

looking awesome.
Still needs final fine grit sanding, and staining.

dry waller

remember this wall

looks a lot better now.

The drywaller was here for 1 day and 1 hour

Now the hardwood floor guy is here and nobody can walk on the floor for a couple of days.
The drywaller will be back to fix things such as the spot were the light was.

old rotten fence

This short piece of fencing is rotten, it looked rotten 20 years ago when we bought the house.

All it does is separates the side of the garage yard with the back yard.

It really opened it up removing it.

Kitchen Exhaust Fan

The exhaust fan for the kitchen originally was in the ceiling.
We are going to remove both the fan and light pictured.
We are installing an above microwave that we will use the piping and electrical from the exhaust fan in the ceiling.
Also, there will be 4 canned lighting instead of the light pictured.

Parts for the exhaust fan.

piping is in.  Ready for the drywaller.

Winter Jasmine

I was told once upon a time that this is a Winter Jasmine.
It has small yellow flowers in February.

The dogs like to lay under it.

Our Gardener trimmed it abit and discovered it is green under it all and thinks he can shape it.

to be continued...

Kitchen cabinet and counter choices

Below are the cabinets we are going with.

Below is the counter, it is quartz.

They say with the amount of  counter stock you need to buy
we will have just enough left over for the bathroom sink.

It is subtle, but the cabinets are not as start white as the ones displayed with the counter.

The hardware wi;; be the same style shown in pics, in the nickel finish

new kitchen drawing

This is the what the new layout of the new kitchen is going to be

There are going to be wood side panels on each side of the refrigerator.

doors, floors and walls demo

On the living room wall behind the front door there was some sort of paneling.
the contractor thought it had sheet rock under it.
It did not.
Turned out to be exterior siding sheets.

They had notched out the framing and put a 2x4 horizontal on the wall. hmmm

2 of the bedrooms had carpeting
Today he took out the carpet so we can see the hardwood floors.

This is the large carpeted bedroom

Having a hard time believing they can be renovated... Monday will be interesting when the hard wood floor guy comes.

This is the small bedroom.

I removed the staples tonight.
I left the carpet strips thinking we might just re-carpet.

He also took out all the baseboard molding and door jams for all the doors.
We will be putting in all new 6 panel doors.
The bathroom did not get done yet making a nice spot for Bailey to lay while I played.
She was NOT in the house while the contractor was here.

Kitchen demo : )

This is what the kitchen has looked like for 20 years.
I did have the fridge removed already.  It has a happy new home.  :)
The counter under the window is actually a dishwasher that rolls up to the sink to be used.
Tying up the sink and faucet while the dishwasher is running.
The original kitchen had no counters at the window.

Took Bailey to the dog park and got a bite to eat and came home to this.

I was bad and started tearing into the floor with Beau.
He was working alone.
I had screwed a 1/4 inch plywood over the old kitchen floor and the dining floor to put my peel and stick vinyl tiles down.
So I grabbed my screwgun and started taking out the screws while he pried the plywood up.
I can do this job sitting down.  : P
When we got to the beautiful floor in the kitchen I had flash backs.
It has been almost 20 years since I saw that floor.

Removed was wainscoting on the wall under the window.
The sheet rock had an opening where the electrical wire is run in the wall.

Hardwood floors in the dining room.

We had covered it up due to this spot in the floor,
did not want to fix the hardwood floor
Due to kids and pets coming in and out the sliding glass door to the wet Pacific NW.

The hardwood floor guy is coming Monday.
